While we, dentists, don’t have to take advanced dental education program to practice as a dentist.
it is something to consider.
Why? Because it gives us options. Through advanced training such as General Practice Residencies (GPR) and Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD), we can expand our career options and scope of practice.
It is also a good way to sharpen or increase your skills or knowledge in specialties that could help you in your general practice.
The length of these general dentistry advanced dental programs varies, but most are 12 months. There are currently 184 GPR programs and 91 AEGD programs in the United States according to ADEA.
" I believed I was a good dentist. When I moved to Washington, I decided to take an AEGD program. The program really allowed me to enhance my way of practice, now I believe I am better and better is more than good, this was the best investment on my career"
Cesar Cruz, DDS AEGD
AAAEGD Executive Director
